Magnolia accumulates 'Roadie'
Magnolia Pictures has acquired U.S. privileges to Michael Cuesta's drama "Roadie" and can release the film on video-on-demand 12 ,. 2 before a theatrical release on Jan. 6. "Roadie" stars Ron Eldard together with Bobby Cannavale, Jill Hennessy and Lois Cruz. The film was compiled by Gerald Cuesta and Michael Cuesta and created by Mike Downey and Sirad Balducci. Eldard plays a longtime roadie for that legendary Blue Oyster Cult that has been fired through the band. With nowhere else to visit, he returns the place to find see his aging mother in Queens, in which a wild encounter with two senior high school buddies shows him that several things never change. Cuesta's credits include "L.I.E.," "Twelve and Holding" and Showtime's "Homeland." The offer was discussed for Magnolia by senior Vice president of purchases Dori Begley and mind of legal and business matters Chris Matson, with Kevin Iwashina and Christine D'Souza of Preferred Content and Graham Taylor of WME working with respect to the filmmakers.
